Go Green Statia!

So it’s that time of year when we are all making New Year’s resolutions. Some of us will try to get fit and lose some weight, some will try to quit smoking and some will resolve to save more money. These are all great things to try and achieve for yourself but you can make some resolutions that go a little further.
Trying to go green and finding ways to reduce your impact on the planet a little is a way that you can not only benefit yourself (and your pocket) but the whole world. If everyone tried to do at least 1 thing for the environment this year think what we could achieve collectively.
With this in mind we are organizing a new expo at the garden concerning all things green. There will be tools to calculate your own carbon footprint and then tips on how to further reduce it. There will be quizzes to test your eco-knowledge and fun craft activities for the kids using recycled household materials. We will be setting up activities with the schools to get the kids involved in energy reduction and have informative workshops on composting and producing your own food over the course of the two month exhibition.
We are having an opening celebration on Sunday the 22nd Jan from 12noon to 3pm where we will be on hand to answer questions, explain some of the exhibits and get creative with the kids. All those who attend the opening will receive a plant (while stocks last) to add to their garden or start a new one. We will have light refreshments available (chips, dips and bush tea) so if you are on island come and check us out!

Much love from the garden on the golden rock.

P.S. keep an eye on the blog, we will be posting handy hints you can try yourselves and green tips throughout February and March.
