So… this morning was… how to put this... eventful. At about 11.30 this morning as I am trying to get 20 kids back in the trucks to leave the garden THIS happened.
Don's ask me how he did it... I was there and I can't even work it out. Sam, somehow, managed to get the truck suspended on a large rock with another large rock behind it while bringing the V401 down the access road from the children's garden.
So, we sent half the kids down to the office to be collected in the V28. The other kids were actually really well behaved and played in the pavilion and let us wrestle with the truck without any drama. The smaller rock behind the big boy (and I say small but it was still kinda 200lbs) made it pretty hard to move anything because it was wedging the bigger one in place and neither of them were going anywhere.
In the end we dug it out as best we could and managed to wiggle the rocks out a bit and jiggle the bottom of the truck free so it was at least not balanced on it and with some strategic 4WD manuevering Dan (carefully) drove the truck up and over them… pictures demonstrate it better…
Positioning the wood so we can drive it up and over.
digging out from under the rock so we could wiggle it over (and throwing water bottles)
Heave! The boys giving it all they got... you can't see Dan in this pic, he is actually under the truck and shoving from the other side! (I'm out of shot worrying about everyone)
Free at last... driving it over the rocks... sound easy but even that was an effort. I had to stand on the other side to keep that wheel down while everyone pushed at the back and Dan gunned it!
So, it was eventful but could have been worse... the kids thought it was fun and the parents weren't cross that some of them were a little late. Just another fun-filled crazy day on Statia!
Much love from the garden on the golden rock!
