Foxy... the botan dog

A song for Foxy (sung to the tune of popeye the sailor man)

He’s Foxy the Botan dog.
He likes to sit in the bog.
He chews on his willy,
He looks kinda silly,
He’s Foxy the Botan dog!

I got a request from a former volunteer to do an update about Foxy. I can report that he is doing just fine. He is now getting shots every 6 weeks to stop his allergies. He doesn’t scratch half as much now and his skin is actually getting much better.

Some of my favourite foxy-isms.

  1. If you are clearing Coralitta or weeding one of the flower beds you can guarantee that at some point he will come and plonk himself exactly where you need to be. Then refuse to move.
  2. He likes to sit in the toilet, the tiles are a little cooler than the concrete and it’s almost always in the shade. If you need to pee he will continue to just sit there unless you actually tell him to get out!
  3. He’s very girly considering he’s a boy. He sits with his front paws crossed and looks very dainty, makes me laugh every time.
  4. He still catches mice even at his age. He caught one the other day and he didn’t want to give it up either… he got a treat for his brave efforts. Of course we pretty much had to point his face in the right direction and corral the mouse for him but he got it never-the-less.
  5. He only ever obeys what you tell him if you have food. He will dutifully, sit, give you a paw and even roll over if you have a treat for him, if you don’t have a treat he soooo can’t be bothered. He barks at every non-botan person who comes in the garden. He never attacks anyone, it’s like he just wants them to know he’s boss (or that he thinks he is!) If you tell him to shut-up he looks at you, looks back and carries on.
  6. If you shout out in pain or fear he comes running… if you drop something on your foot or get attacked by a Jackie (yellow jacketed hornet) or you squeal when a cockroach crawls out of your boot, Foxy is there ready to defend you against all comers.
  7. He will try and 'join in' if you are dancing. For some reason as long as I have known him he has a 'thing' for people dancing around him... it could be called joining in... but it's basically him barking his head off and then trying to hump your leg... don't know what he gets so excited about... he kinda lacks the equipment to see it through!
He is a wonderful dog and almost everyone falls totally in love with him when they come and stay with us. With his droopy ears and confused look on his face. He is the one and only, daft as a brush… Foxman.

Much love from the garden on the golden rock…

Anja took this lovely pic of him just this week (in his usual pose of course!)
