Rain down on me…

It’s been chucking it down this week and it couldn’t come soon enough! The garden has been drying out badly over the last couple of months, the grass has been going brown and the cistern under the pavilion is almost empty. We have had a few days of rain this week and although it has stopped us getting into the garden to work, it has been taking care of all the watering for us.
I was able to grass seed the medicinal garden this week and the constant drizzle and light rain has been perfect for it to start sprouting. Once the grass comes in the dreaded invasive Corallita will be smothered and won’t be able to establish itself. Some of the plants we planted last week up there are not too happy about having been moved. The thistle is wilting badly and so plan B is to harvest some seeds from the bush and plant them in the bed. It’s a very fast growing plant and so it will come in fairly quickly.
I have some good news to report, we have some very tiny, Statia Morning Glory plants! Woo hooo!! As I said they are very small still but they are coming on nicely. We managed to get them to germinate from seed. The cuttings that were taken did not root despite some serious TLC at home in my bathroom so seeds appear to be the best way to go.
I have also put some photos up today, some pictures of the medicinal garden and some update pics as well. Enjoy!

Much love from the garden on the golden rock...

Ps we found some puppies abandoned on the road, they are about 8-10 weeks and super cute! They have been dropped off at the animal welfare offices near the airport and are being looked after there until next thrusday. If anyone on island is looking for a dog, pop in and have a look.

The bed in all it's glory with the vines all around.

Improvements to the chill out garden - swings in the big tamarind tree and an orchid rescued from the trails.
